Come As A Guest

Come as a guest. Leave knowing the family.

Varun Home Stay is exactly what the name suggests ÔÇö a home, beside the Uhl river in Barot.

Family-Run in Barot

Slow mornings, fresh mountain air & the sound of running water.

We live here, cook here, and wake up to the same river as our guests. Eight rooms across three types ÔÇö river-view and valley-view rooms with private balconies, and a compact cozy room ÔÇö each with an attached bathroom, hot water and WiFi.

The homestay is registered under the Himachal Pradesh Home Stay Scheme, and we're happy to cook home-style vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals for you on request ÔÇö just tell us what you're in the mood for.

Barot is quieter than the busier hill stations nearby ÔÇö known for the Uhl, trout, forest trails and its old hydel project. Fish in the morning, find a quiet trail, or just sit on the balcony doing nothing. We'll help you make the most of it.

Meet Your Hosts

We farm this land, cook every meal & welcome you into our home.

Varun Home Stay isn't a commercial hotel or an absentee rental. We are a Himachali farming family, born and raised beside the Uhl River in Barot. The grains drying on the tray behind Mummy ji? They come from our own fields. Much of what lands on your plate is picked that same morning from the kitchen garden behind the house.

Varun is the face you'll message and meet at the gate. He grew up on this land, knows every trail and fishing bend in the valley, and personally arranges local cabs and trek guidance — no middlemen. He's the one who'll sit with you over evening chai to plan the next day's walk.

Mummy ji runs the kitchen the way she runs the farm — hands-on, from scratch, every single day. She cooks home-style Himachali meals for guests exactly as she feeds her own family: fresh rotis off the tawa, dal simmered slow, seasonal greens from the field, and her signature pickles. There's no pre-made buffet, no central kitchen — just her stove, her recipes, and food made to order for whoever sits at our table.

The family photo says it plainly: you're not checking into a property. You're a guest in a real farming family's home. We live here, we work this land, and we'd be honored to host you.
